1tablespooncornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (to create a slurry)
2green onionsthinly sliced (for garnish)
1tablespoonsesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and black pepper. Whisk together until the ingredients are well blended to form a flavorful marinade.
Add the bite-sized steak pieces to the bowl, ensuring they are thoroughly coated in the marinade. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for a richer flavor infusion.
Preheat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once the skillet is hot, carefully place the marinated steak bites in a single layer, reserving any leftover marinade for later. Cook for approximately 2-3 minutes on one side without moving them, allowing a nice sear to develop.
Flip the steak bites and sear for an additional 2-3 minutes on the other side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Once cooked, remove the steak bites from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
In the same skillet, pour in the reserved marinade and bring it to a vigorous boil over medium heat. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
When the marinade reaches a boil, gradually stir in the cornstarch slurry. Continue cooking while stirring for about 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens to your preferred consistency.
Return the cooked steak bites to the skillet and toss gently to coat them thoroughly in the thickened sauce. Let it all simmer together for an additional minute, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
Remove the skillet from the heat and transfer the honey garlic steak bites to a serving plate arranged attractively.
Notes
Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds for added flavor and presentation.
